U2’s management company, the rather pompously titled Principle Management, was in a refurbished old building, a former banana curing warehouse, in Dublin’s Docklands.
It was a leisurely five minute stroll from the Irish Press offices where I was working and received Paul McGuinness’s call that morning. It was late October, cold and a misty rain darkened the day.
