Iva, I appreciate the sentiment of your comment very much although the poem, if it’s a question, is purely rhetorical.

Certainly, poetry is the language of the soul or that other dimension of our lives that exists in our thoughts and emotions.

Poetry, for me, is a language of thought and feeling, where I think, literally, out loud.

Strangely, it’s where I also use less words than I would if writing prose or even talking. That might be seen as a truism but to me it’s how my style has evolved as though each word must be chosen and weighted with such meaning, they should not be squandered or wasted.

Thanks, Iva, for taking such an interest. I wish I could feel the same enthusiasm right now but I don’t and when that happens, as it does in a writer’s life, the trick for me is stay busy and wait it out.
